An article from New Gloucester
April
7 I went to my first week at Pilgrim Lodge in the summer before 5th grade. I remember driving down the dirt road on a sunlit afternoon in late July and finally coming in sight of a large yellow building which I soon found out was the main lodge. A staff member was right there to greet my family and to point us in the direction of check-in. This was one of the first signs that PL was going to be a great camp. They made it easy for the first time campers so that they weren't confused or afraid, and everyone, I mean everyone, had a smile on their face.
Over the weeks that I've been,
I've become an experienced camper, and become accustomed to
the traditions that make Pilgrim Lodge the camp that it is.
It wouldn't be PL without the early morning swims to the
island, the songs at mealtimes, getting stuck out in the
lake in boats, the torch-lit vesper services, the nightly
boardwalk time, or going to sleep in little cabins while
listening to the cry of the loons echo across the lake.

I think every Christian kid in Maine should go to Pilgrim Lodge because there are fun activities and good worship. Most of the time, worship is outside overlooking beautiful Lake Cobbosseecontee. Last summer was my first time at Pilgrim Lodge. It was excellent. I stayed in a cabin with three other boys and a grown-up counselor... Last summer, my cabin-mates and I made a video... It was fun to make. The head counselor, Tina (who babysat me when I was little), made a DVD for me. The food is great. I especially liked Taco Night. The best part of Pilgrim Lodge is being outside, exploring the wilderness, swimming in the lake, and having fun with new friends. I hope more kids from Old South will join me, and my sister, at Pilgrim Lodge this summer!
