Jim
Jim is the first cook at camp this summer. When he's not helping out in the kitchen, he loves to play the guitar, hike and kick back with a good book. In the fall, he will be starting his third year studying civil engineering at the University of Maine. Jim is looking forward to making the 2012 camp season as awesome as possible for everyone!
Laura
Laura is delighted to be back for another summer as the PL photographer. A recent graduate of Wheaton College (MA), she is eager to begin a career in theatre education in Providence this fall. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, dancing, singing silly songs and the occasional non-violent swordfight. She is currently trying to master the art of teleportation, and will be popping up all over camp this summer to take pictures. So if you see her, remember to smile!
Gwen
Gwen hails from the far-off land of Portland, Oregon. She spent her childhood in Maine, but for the last few years she has been reunited with the West Coast. She is currently studying French Studies, Philosophy and Fine Arts at University of Portland, and recently returned from a semester in France. Gwen has been coming to Pilgrim Lodge as a camper, counselor and staff member since 2003. She loves tie-dyeing, taking a dip in the lake, frolicking through the nature trails and walking the labyrinth. Come visit her in the craft cabin during Option Time and indulge in your artsy whims!
Eric
Eric comes to us from Pilgrim Lodge past, and as he puts it, Pilgrim Lodge Future. He enjoys long discussions about quantum physics and reading about current world events, which he frequently confuses with past and future all-world events. All confusion aside, he is passionate about having fun on our waterfront and in our boats, and remind us all that safety is as important as fun whether we are in the water or on dry land.
Adam
Hello, cyber campers! Adam is the head chef at Pilgrim Lodge. This is his fourth summer spent on the gorgeous shores of Lake Cobbosseecontee. He is going to be a senior at Colby College majoring in biology and psychology. He loves Pilgrim Lodge a whole lot! Until we meet in real life, dear cyber camper!
Arthur
After a short hiatus for Adventure, Arthur is returning to PL as a maintenance man and lifeguard. Arthur loves to read and find creative solutions to common problems. Fixing everything from broken toilets to broken hearts, Arthur is excited to be back.
Michael
Michael is a sophomore at Holy Cross. This is his first year on staff. Michael is an English major at college. He enjoys fun. He also loves eating Adam's dinners. Michael has been a camper since 2002. He can't wait for the summer to begin!
Ruth
Ruth is so excited to be back on staff for a second summer and cannot wait to share her love and passion for Pilgrim Lodge with all of the wonderful campers. In her other life she is about to start her Junior year at Bay Path College, studying Interior Design, playing field hockey, and performing on and off stage with the theater department. She also enjoys reading in the sun, all things purple and training to be the next great superhero!
Dan
This is Dan's first year at Pilgrim Lodge. A Connecticut native, Dan has lived all over New England for the 22 years of his life. He has worked his last four summers at Horton Center (the New Hampshire version of PL), and is very excited for the cooperation and mutual growth between the Maine and New Hampshire Conferences. Dan has both a Bachelor's and Associate's degree in Broadcast Television (along with two years of experience as a reporter and anchor in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom), and is currently a student at Andover Newton Theological School in Massachusetts. He loves rock climbing, hiking, caving, acting and reading. He once had a minor role in an Uma Thurman film, and once met Christopher Columbus (the Harry Potter director, not the guy who sailed the ocean blue in 1492).
Tracie
Hiya campers - both future and past alike! This is Tracie Ank and this is her third summer running around Pilgrim Lodge guarding lives, chopping vegetables, cleaning cabins and training superheros. Ruth Choate is her star pupil. When she wasn't teaching invisibility or how-to-fly lessons, she attended the College of the Holy Cross. Finally graduating in May after four long years with a degree in sociology and education, she is back for another fun-filled summer on the lake as she has no current future. Except superhero-ing. She can't wait to see you all!
Emily
After a four-summer sabbatical spent wandering the globe, Emily Goodnow is thrilled to be returning to PL for her fifth summer on staff. Originally a New Hampshire native (and Horton Center camper!), Emily is now fluent in the use of "ayuh" and owns both flannel shirts and carharts - she dreams of one day passing as a Mainer. During her break from PL Staff Emily graduated Colby College, lived and worked in Mali, taught creative writing at The Telling Room, and completed two years of study at Yale Divinity School working toward her Master of Divinity. Emily's favorite parts of PL are campers, s'mores, silly songs, s'mores, sunsets on the lake, s'mores, gimp bracelets, and, um, s'mores! Emily is also discerning a call to Sumo Wrestling and/or Alligator Wrangling as vocation - camper input on this important decision is encouraged.
Matt
This is Matt's first year at Pilgrim Lodge. A New Hampshire native, Matt spent his camper years at Horton Center, the NH UCC camp, where he was also on staff last summer. Matt enjoys rock climbing, hiking, Taekwondo, competitive bulls-eye shooting, and playing the guitar. He is currently enrolled at Boston's Wentworth Institute of Technology where he is studying Mechanical Engineering. As Pilgrim Lodge's Nature Director, Matt hopes to help campers experience the wonders and excitement of the natural world through walks in the woods, waterfront activities and live exhibits of the local wildlife.
Mollie
Mollie is thrilled to be back for another summer on the shores of Cobbossee. She's just been hired as the new Associate Director of Outdoor Ministry for Maine and New Hampshire Conferences of the UCC (try saying that three times fast!). She's excited to be part of this new adventure of working with two camps! When not flying to and from the mountains of Horton Center, Mollie can be seen swimming with the loons. Mollie just graduated from Andover Newton Theological School, and loves finding God in new ways - especially at camp! She can't wait to share in the three C's - community, cobboseecontee, and of course (ice)cream!
Karen
Karen (aka, the Steelhammer), is not only the office administrator - extraordinaire, she's also a fearless boat driver. With patience, grace, and a friendly voice, Karen keeps the camp office functioning calmly. She loves seeing the campers smiling faces and hearing them laugh and play. Karen lives across the shores of Cobbossee, and every once in a while you can see her skiing or kayaking across lake toward Pilgrim Lodge. We love Karen, and hope you'll pop your head into the office to share a smile with her!
Ethan
Ethan is extremely excited to be on staff at Pilgrim Lodge this year. This will be Ethan's very first summer as a staff member at PL! Ethan will be your music director and one of your lifeguards this summer and is always ready to ROCK!!! After this summer, Ethan will be starting his college career at Manhatanville College studying music technology and audio recording, playing/writing tons of music, and climbing to be the next record producer/world's greatest rock star! Ethan can't wait to have fun on staff this year!
Benjamin
Benjamin, a long time Pilgrim Lodge loyalist, is happy to be back at camp and to serve as the 2012 Program Director. He has just completed the second year of his Master of Divinity program at Pacific School of Religion, where he is exploring a call to ministry as a health care chaplain. Benjamin is excited to be back on the shores of lake Cobbossee and home in Maine for the summer, a full eight years after last serving on summer staff. He will serve as co-dean for One Spirit Many Gifts along with former PL staff member Amy Sue French. When off-duty this summer, Benjamin plans to visit with family and friends and avidly read the adventures of Miss Jane Marple.
Eric
Eric is excited to spend his twelfth summer at Pilgrim Lodge. A superstar drummer, he has decided to forgo a worldwide tour in order to rock out here on the shores of Cobbosseecontee. When he isn't making awesome music, you can usually find him making a delicious PB and J sandwich, catching some bass (the fish, not the instrument) or identifying cool bugs out on the nature trails. He hopes to see you around this summer!
Bryan
Really just a figure head, Bryan roams the camp trying to look important with delusions of grandeur and occasionally, fluffernutters. Bryan is the Director of Outdoor Ministries for the the Maine and New Hampshire Conferences, or as we like to say, Director. Bryan is married to Deborah, a UCC pastor and father of Staff Superhero Eric. He is an ordained UCC minister and a Social Worker with a covert history of political intrigue high in the the upper echelons of Munchkinland. Word of Bryan's work at Pilgrim Lodge has spread across the mountains and he is currently working with the New Hampshire Conference on the transformation of their Outdoor Ministries program. (We are happy to share and excited about our new found friends from Horton Center.) Bryan is also busy working on the proposed capital campaign for Pilgrim Lodge. Through story, song, "that look'" and moments of compassion, intensity and intentionality, Bryan helps the staff remember the high standards we set at PL for safety, fun, purposeful programming, and always keeping our focus on the most important thing, serving our deans, counselors and our campers.

Steve
Steve has become a part of the PL fabric. His ever-present can-do attitude lifts everyone he meets, and his skills at keeping the sparkle on our beloved facility are awe inspiring. Steve's previous life included air traffic control and he brings his management and people skill to PL. And not one of our PL airplanes has crashed since he arrived. Loved for his wisdom and humor as much as for his skill, we are all grateful that Steve views his time here as more than a job. He embodies the spirit of PL. We love Steve.
